The Alchemy of Bagua Zhang Seminar: The Thirteen Monads
The Alchemy of Bagua Zhang is a foundational system within the Method of Human Development. Its primary objective is the psycho-physical synchronization which, in Daoist terms, implies unification of human mind, body and energy; Bagua practice is a process of total harmonization of all types of internal energies but it is also a method of alchemical transformation based on what is usually referred to as ‘axial efforts’, associated with the generation of jing energy.
Program
Alchemical Circle
The circular system of Bagua Zhang (the practice of circle walking characteristic to this art) is based on the laws of macrocosmic transformations, known as far back as the time of Fu Xi. These laws are central to all Daoist ritual systems and are divided into three categories: the category of the body, the category of the legs and the category of the hands. Specifically the category of the hands is what is commonly known as Bagua Zhang. Bagua Zhang Alchemy, however, is a different field of study. It deals with the development of the internal energetic connections and it is precisely this art that will be the focus of the present seminar.
The Thirteen Monads
The thirteen monads of Bagua Zhang represent the unification of the human body, mind and energy into thirteen variations, or conditions of energy transformation. The crucial element in all these is the work with the central axis of the body. These thirteen axial variations are trained in motion which transforms the human energy into a higher form.
