The anatomy of Taiji Quan builds the indispensable foundation upon which our evolution may advance. Taiji is often considered an art of body geometry, yet to get to this point, our physique needs an introductory preparation. It is precisely this initial level that is here referred to as ‘Anatomy of Taiji Quan’. Next comes the level of Taiji geometry and finally there is the alchemy of Taiji. It is very important to understand that no internal practice is possible until one reaches the third level. Conversely, it is quite misleading to consider Taiji Quan an internal system before the cauldron in which real transformation can occur has been built.
Nevertheless, the correct beginning allows us not only to dramatically shorten the duration of our training, but, most importantly, it prepares our mind and body for inner cultivation. As a minimum the following three elements must be in place:
- A unified body;
- A centered mind;
- A return of the energy.
However, to master these basic principles without regulating our anatomy is simply not possible.
