The teaching of Zhang Guolao is also known as ‘the art of the return’ or ‘the art of the bamboo pyramid’. This a teaching about how to rid oneself of the heavy energy, caused by obstacles and limitations like illness and senility. ‘Ridding of the burden’ means changing the usual way of body functioning. This is represented by the symbol of the bat. The art of Zhang Guolao teaches one how to perform marvelous things, the most important of which are how ‘to get married to the sky’ and how ‘to marry the sun’.
