The teaching of Zhang Guolao represents the art of cognizing the reversibility, or the art of the bamboo pyramid. This doctrine focuses on one type of efforts in the art of achieving immortality – the effort made in order to prevent over-saturation with heavy energy and which is associated with the intricacies on the road or the limitations caused by illness or old age.
